Clear your calendar - It's going down! The Emancipation Day festivities will take place on Saturday, April 13 and the parade will start at 2:00 PM at 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The concert kicks off at 3:00 PM and will feature an all-star lineup of some of the best artists in the game! The concert at Freedom Plaza will also feature many of DC's own homegrown talent. Welcome to Mayor Muriel Bowser Presents 202Creates Month! From September 1 – 30, 2022, the District will celebrate the innovators, creative entrepreneurs, artists, and makers, who make up DC’s creative economy.
Our month-long celebration begins with a 202Creates Kick-off Celebration on District Pier at the Wharf from 6pm to 10pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022. The evening will also feature a 202Creates Pop-Up Lounge at the LaVie Rooftop with views & vibes hosted by Kyle on the Mic from 8pm to 10pm. We will continue our month-long celebration at Mayor Muriel Bowser Presents the 37th Mayor’s Arts Awards on Tuesday September 13, 2022 at the Capital Turnaround hosted by Britt Waters and Comedian Sylvia Traymore Morrison. Mayor Muriel Bowser Presents The 37th Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards is coming! The awards are the most prestigious honor conferred by the city to individual artists, arts educators, nonprofit organizations, the creative community, and patrons of the arts.
The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME) in partnership with the DC Creative Affairs Office, will produce the 37th Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards where creatives, artists and organizations will be recognized across fourteen categories, celebrating everything from visual arts, fashion, beauty, and the humanities. This year’s celebration will include "A Night of DC Stars" full of dynamic performances, local celebrities, your favorite creatives, and arts professionals, representing all 8 Wards, and some surprise guests.

Each quarter, the District of Columbia Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) highlights the achievements of a District of Columbia resident who exemplifies excellence in creativity, education, creative entrepreneurship, economic revitalization of creative business, social justice, or racial equity.
EZ Street is the Founder of Creative Solutions for Youth LLC and a television/radio personality with over 28-years of industry experience.
EZ Street is currently a radio personality at 96.3 WHUR in Washington, DC. He also appears as a Sports Analyst for the Washington Commanders games on TV weekly for FOX 5 DC and is the Official DJ for NBC Sports Washington, covering the Washington Wizards.
Over the last 24 years in the Washington DC area EZ Street has appeared at and given hundreds of motivational speeches to youth and juveniles. EZ continues to be heavily involved with mentoring, motivational speaking and volunteer work in the Washington, DC community. He has extended his work to include hundreds of local artists, schools, community centers and non-profit organizations addressing issues like peer pressure, the importance of education, goal setting, college readiness, etc.
EZ was the first to produce “DMV Artist Showcases” that invited artists to the radio station for an interview, played their songs on the air and hosted live performance venues across the DMV area to showcase their talent to the community. He continues to be a champion of creatives in Washington, DC and surrounding areas.

The #EntertainDC Office is pleased to recognize Carol Flaisher as the OCTFME September 2022 Filmmaker of the Month (FOTM).
OCTFME is proud to acknowledge the work and contributions of location manager and producer, Carol Flaisher. She leaped into film and television production world with passion, enthusiasm, and a determination to succeed. She learned the business from the ground up, the personification of “on the job training.” Location management became her “niche.” Though Carol has worked in other production capacities over the years, like producing and production coordinating, location management has been the industry specialty she has focused most on during her long career.
Location management is an extremely important part of the movie making process. A location manager serves as a liaison between the production (that often comes from out of town with little knowledge of the District) and the city where they want to film. A location manager’s job is to gain an understanding of the story, the visual look, and mood the filmmaker wants to capture and offer them tangible location options that will help the filmmaker realize their creative vision. An effective location manager must be creative, organized, have a great understanding of the ins-and-outs of location permitting, be a good people-person, shrewd negotiator, and sometimes even a crisis manager, diplomat, and amateur psychologist. Carol Flaisher is all of these things, and more, which has made her one of the most respected, successful, and sought-after location managers in the DMV.
Carol has worked on over 100 film, television, and commercial projects during her over 40 years in the industry. After a long and illustrious career in the industry, Carol is still going strong, continuing to work as a location manager, producer, and serving as a mentor to the next generation of regional DMV location managers and producers. In addition to her recent invitation to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Carol is also a proud member of the, the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and and the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI).
“For me, movies aren’t just work. It’s a part of who I am,” says Flaisher. “After having devoted 40 years of my professional life to supporting and advancing the DMV as a thriving and respected film production community, to be recognized by the District of Columbia as a ‘Filmmaker of the Month’ is a great honor.”

The March on Washington Film Festival will be comprised of virtual and in-person events based primarily at Union Market and Eaton Workshop in Washington, D.C. The theme, “Story, Stage & Screen” celebrating 100 years of advancing racial equality in theater and film.
The March on Washington Film Festival kicks off its 10th annual festival September 28, 2022 and runs through October 2, 2022.
DC Art All Night will take place on September 23, 2022 7:00 PM to September 24, 2022 3:00 AM. Art All Night brings visual and performing arts, including painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, fashion, music, dance, theater, film, and poetry, to indoor and outdoor public and private spaces, including local businesses and restaurants. The festival will take place in twenty (20) neighborhoods with different activations each night.
